Piovesan Consulting is a petrographic consulting practice founded by PhD. Rebecca Piovesan, providing specialised high-level services.
From the end of the XX century, petrography, the science which studies rocks and their structures, and the correlated analytical methods, were successfully applied also to all the artificial building materials (mortars, plasters, concrete, pottery, metals, glasses). The combining of different methodologies (petrographic, mineralogical, physical, chemical) thoroughly characterises all natural and artificial materials (being these building-materials or not), allows gaining provenience and manufactory information, verifying alteration and decay phenomenon and identifying their possible causes. Thanks to these analytic approach issues of durability as well as the potentialities of the materials can be explored.
Using top and innovative scientific instrumentations and wide knowledge build in more than ten years’ experience, we structure the best investigation process to characterise and understand the issues affecting the materials. We give to our costumers clear answers and efficient options to solve their problems, offering high-level, accurate and understandable scientific reports.

Rebecca Piovesan
She graduated in 2004 in Geological Sciences at the University of Padova (Italy) with a experimental thesis which applied the petrographic and mineralogical sciences to the cultural heritage. She enlarged her research experience with a Ph.D. on Earth Sciences by putting into practice her scientific knowledge on cultural heritage issues. More in detail developing archaeometrical studies on materials from Pompeii. She proceeded the academic experience 5 more years in the same field as Post Doc Fellow, enriching widely her scientific knowledge, as well as her connections with other researchers and academic institutions. During her research activity, from 2004 to 2008, Dr. Piovesan conducted also a precious work-experience as laboratory technicians and material- characterizations expert in a renowned scientific laboratory in northern Italy. During this collaboration she acquired excellent technical and consulting capacities. She lived abroad often, working in academic institutions (UK). During these experiences she enriched her knowledge and created a wide professional network.
